The essence of Chip Tuning

Does your car use a lot of fuel and is powerless to overtake?

Vehicle torque is closely related to fuel consumption. The faster the desired speed is reached and the lower the speed, the less fuel the vehicle consumes and the safer and smoother the ride.

In cooperation with VKM Motors, we offer chip tuning for cars, trucks, buses and tractors in Pärnu. Chip tuning is increasing the power and economy of a car engine by changing the control program. In modern cars, reprogramming of chips often takes place via the OBD diagnostic interface without removing the control unit, which significantly shortens the Chip tuning time.

Satisfaction Guarantee, 100% money back in 30 days!

Which means that if you are not happy with our tuning, or did not receive what we promised, we will refund 100% and restore the original file.

Why doesn't the factory do it all by building a car right away?

Certainly, the factory can immediately make vehicles as economical and powerful as possible, but the carmaker manufactures its vehicles for the international market and conditions in terms of special insurance, fuel quality and climate are just some of the points engineers have to make when building vehicles. Software optimization is also an important marketing tool for the automaker. In this way, one engine can be sold on different car models, and the only difference is that the engine driver software has been changed and a large amount of money is collected from the customer. For example, the only difference between the Mercedes C 200 CDI and the C 220 CDI is the engine electronics.

The same applies to trucks and tractors, where different capacities are sold for different surcharges. At the same time, the factory equipment can always be improved, thereby reducing fuel consumption and increasing performance.

With more than 12 years of experience, the VKM Motors team offers a solution to your concerns and always guarantees your work and allows you to restore the original device free of charge within 30 days, should the need arise.

Unlike our competitors, we do not install any additional gadgets or devices in the car that could damage your vehicle's engine. The entire change takes place in the motor driver and, if necessary, we can restore the old factory setting, because the original device remains in our database!

We are one of the few companies that also deals with new so-called antitunig brains, which are diligently installed in new vehicles, and we can also set up a tractor at the edge of the field.

We allow for a car:

1. Reduction of vehicle fuel consumption up to 20%
2. Torque and horsepower increase up to 30%
3. Smoother and safer driving
4. Adjusting the motor controller without reducing the motor resource
5. Greater environmental sustainability

We allow the truck to:

1. Reduction of fuel consumption of commercial vehicles up to 15% (2-5l / 100km)
2. Torque increase up to 500NM
3. Reduction of AD-BLUE consumption to 60%
4. Save money and faster and higher quality freight

Our tuned trucks have traveled more than 1,300,000km and the cars more than 400,000km without any complaints, which shows that there is no sign of a reduction in resources.

Let's broaden our horizons

Software Tuning (Re-flashing) vs. separate control modules (ECU)

The passion of any professional engine adjuster is to achieve the best result from the engine. It may be the maximum strength, but it can also be economy and durability. This does not mean that when the engine rolls off the factory line, all the work is done. Different climates, necessities, superstructures are some examples of why this is done. Modifying cars is always about improving, refining and personalizing.

There are literally hundreds of ways on the market to tune your engine, basically they all try to do the same thing, but the difference is in experience and technical capabilities.

There are literally hundreds of ways on the market to tune your engine, basically they all try to do the same thing, but the difference is in experience and technical capabilities.

There are several options for setting up the motor, but there are generally two options: “re-flashing”, ie setting up the original control module of the motor, another option is to install a new separate control module. Let's explain what they mean: "Re-flashing" or "chip-tuning" in popular parlance means that if the factory control module tables (maps) have been decoded and there is software to tune it in a similar way as the factory engineers do. As long as the factory control module is used, there is no need to cut or modify the wiring - this in turn simplifies the work and keeps costs low.

Many ask, is there any risk or danger to the engine? Of course, it is and therefore must be chosen companies that have long experience, insurance and the ability to avoid problems. Always ask for a guarantee of the work done and, if possible, of the measurement and test results.

Pros and cons

For many popular cars, both solutions may be possible - a “re-flash” of the factory control module or a separate control module. So which is the best and which one should you choose? There is no single clear answer here. You can often achieve a similar result with both options, which is even more confusing. Many people think that one manufacturer's control module can produce more power than another. In fact, this is not the case. If you use the same amount of fuel and the same ignition timing for both, the result is the same - there is nothing mysterious here. The key to choice lies in understanding the pros and cons of one or the other. There are control modules that can do more or are more comfortable for the tuner, with good technical support and image. However, in principle, we recommend that you choose the device according to the tuner's recommendations, as he can offer you the final price and guarantee the quality of the whole set. Since the right setup and control module is the key to the success of the whole project, we recommend focusing on researching the background and experience of the setup instead of choosing the module.

If you are looking for an affordable solution, then tuning the factory control module may be just for you. Tuning can usually be done with a special cable via OBD-II. The maps are read from the control module, the necessary changes are made and they are written back to the control module. In general, this can be done on cars that were manufactured between 2000 and later. It should be noted here that the factory control modules of all cars cannot be configured.

Older wiring modules had a major drawback in the construction of the factory wiring module, but today the area is being developed very widely, and there are knowledgeable people, companies, who have been able to hack the factory control module code and add features and new settings. Here we are talking about adding a turbo to the free-breathing engine, “Flat shifting”, various settings (maps), “flex-fuel”, etc. With the factory control module, you can achieve so much if it is in the right hands. For example, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo has achieved more than 1,000 horsepower wheels using the original control module.

There are also some downsides. In most cases, changes to the original control module cannot be made in real time. This means that by changing the fuel and ignition tables, the result cannot be seen immediately as seen in the aftermarket control module. Changes are made to the tables and rewritten in the control module. This is a time consuming process with logging and testing. There are also mostly no good logging options. In other words, if a lot of changes are made in different tables, all the work can be frustratingly time and money, leading to the choice of a new control module for many projects.

For comparison with "re-flashing", the re-flashing control module can be configured in real time, which means that when you make a change and press the "enter" key on your computer, you will immediately see the change made. This makes the whole tuning much faster if you know right away if you are moving in the right direction. Many aftermarket control modules also have features like real-time data logging, launch control, knokcontrol, anti-lag and traction control and much more that is cool used and is a great argument.

Which way to go? Unfortunately, there is no single rule here, but we can share our long-standing experience here with both options.

If you think of some minor changes like a muffler, air intake, the answer is simple - "re-flashing" is what you need. You get everything your new performace spare parts need at a reasonable cost, and you can be sure that the car will continue to do everything the way it did - start cold, idle, and offer driving comfort.

If you are planning to build a more serious race car, you should look to the aftermarket control module.

However, we often see that the customer starts with light changes, which are supported by the factory control module, and later they gain momentum and want more. By anticipating such things and thinking about how far the project is to go in the future, it is possible to save costs and achieve a better result.
